The Luke and Marcus Trust held their Christmas service at St Anne’s Cathedral in Leeds, as usual. Unfortunately we were unable to have this, as usual, in the December, due to Rev Joe not being able to fit us it. It was a lovely service with several of our members being able to attend. We followed the service with brunch at Browns of York. Thanks to Joe for a lovely service, we were able to remember our children and light a candle for them, remembering them all with much love. A candle was also lit for the children of the members who were unable to come.
We all enjoyed the day and as well as a little sadness there was also alot of laughter.
Unfortunately, the Luke and Marcus Trust is going to close. This has been due to Covid, we have not been able to attend schools to give talks on the devastation caused to families through young people using drugs and in particular Cannabis. Also the Trustees feel that we have gone as far as we can and it is now time for us to move on.
The trust has supported a lot of families who have unfortunately found themselves bereaved through a young family member using drugs / alcohol.
We talked briefly about the Trust’s intention to close and this will be done in the following few weeks, as per regulations set out by the Charity Commission.
Members of the trust have agreed that we will keep in touch as we have become very firm friends.
The Trust intends to hold a last Support Group meeting on Saturday 19 March 2022 and will also continue with our WhatsApp chat group.
