The Luke and Marcus Trust is now closing, as agreed with all Trustees and members. Official notice of the closure meeting was provided to all on 28/01/2022. Details provided on our website.
At the meeting it was discussed that the Trust has gone as far as it can and has supported it’s members in the initial states of their bereavement following the losing a family member through drug addiction. We have also done additional work to raise awareness via talks at various schools in Yorkshire, and several awareness days. Other information of our work over the past 15 years is detailed on our website, as is a video made by the Trust which is available via a link on the website.
The Trust agreed to try and arrange for the website to continue for an additional period of approximately 5 years so that information can be available should anyone wish to access this.
ACTIONS:
- LJ to contact The Forward Trust, The Duchess of Cambridge, being their Patron. LJ to advise of the work our trust has done over the past 15 years.
- AD to provide information re paying a host in order to keep the Luke and Marcus Trust Website open. SG to make contact.
- Any remaining funds in the Luke and Marcus Trust, approximately £3,134.93, as at 02/03/2022, to pay for host re website and three equal amounts to The Homeless Hostels in Harrogate, York and Dewsbury. A final and exact figure to be calculated and put on our website when available.
- MS to make contact KR to advise of our closure and LJ to make contact with AW to advise of our closure.
It was agreed that we will all remain firm friends and continue to meet up as such, as and when we can. We will also try and continue with a church service at St Anne’s Cathedral in Leeds, MS to speak with Father Joe who has facilitated this over recent years.
It is with a little sadness that we are closing our trust but by no means the end of the wonderful support we have all given each other over the years.
Not forgetting of course that without the sad loss our beautiful children, we would not have come together as a group and would not have forged the friendship and love we now have for each other.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people, there are quite a few, who have helped us to form our Trust and keep it going for such a long period of time.
Susan Garner
