We’re happy to have made several schools visits this year.
Starting with Carlton Academy in January we visited a whole year group in their splendid lecture theatre. The students listened intently and were most interested in acquiring the book published by Mary Brett ‘Drugs – it’s just not worth it’ explaining the dangers of sCannabis and how it affects and stops development of the brain, particularly upon young people. The school was most happy to have our visit and requested that we would attend the next year.
Followed by a visit to Ackworth Quaker School in February where we were well received. We then received a request from a friend of Marilyn to speak to trainee counsellors at Rothwell. This was a group discussion with adults who work in social services and was interesting for both parties concerned.
We then followed with Castleford Academy for the third year and finally a further visit to Kettlewell school near Wakefield for a third visit again.
It has been a very busy year but one we enjoy. However, it is very emotionally draining and we are looking forward to the summer break.
Our annual retreat was held in Harrogate for one night, and though not many attended and unfortunately Lesley was ill we had an enjoyable evening. Lesley managed to come and see us on the Sunday morning which was lovely.
The AGM was held at Susan’s on Saturday 13th July and Susan’s report will be following.\
